A dwarf’s name usually defines them and gives insight into their personality. Typically, rogues are named Hardclaw and the followers of the sun god are Salmalin (because they often have to do a good deed in order to get light). Some dwarves have names that describe their professions, such as miners and scouts, where the names have a distant-sounding meaning. I haven’t used this site to name my dwarves, but I’ve always wondered what they might be called.

Names are only ever one part of a dwarf’s self-identification. There are over 20 different ways that dwarves identify themselves in Dwarf Fortress (look on the wiki), each with varying degrees of importance and relevance to the dwarf’s life and personality. Here is an example of an in-game dwarven name.
Dwarf, Fighter, Barbarian This member of the Stone hammer clan was born near the Barrens. His totem is a great bear. He was captured by a raiding party from the other clan and escaped. Forging his own weapons he has become something of a legendary hero for his clan.

Dwarven Names Idea:-

Dwarven names are a combination of two Dwarven words, one name is the name of their clan, and the other is their own personal name. The Clan names for each dwarf are based on their profession, and what caste they come from. For example, a miner comes from the Stone clan, but their name will be different from all the other miners because they are not of the same profession.

Male Dwarven Names Idea:-

The idea behind male dwarven names is that they are more violent than females, however, your dwarf could argue this. The idea of the names being separated between soft and hard is also very attractive, it starts with a soft name, and eventually, they become harder.

Fantasy Dwarven Names Idea:-

Fantasy names are inspired by Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, and also other fantasy books such as the Chronicles of Narnia. Fantasy names could be epic, or simple with an exotic (usually exotic sounding) meaning.
These names have been inspired by the legends of dwarven kind. The idea of the names being separated between soft and hard is also very attractive, it starts with a soft name and becomes harder over time. The dwarves in here are all related to their profession, and they either use first or second names as their clan name.

Amazing Dwarven Clan Names Idea:-

The idea of the names being separated between soft and hard is also very attractive, it starts with a soft name, and eventually, they become harder. I wanted to give the dwarves a more exotic feel than regular names, so I choose names that have a mythological meaning. I thought about gods and heroes. I wanted them to fit in with fantasy, but also not be too cheesy or unrealistic
Mythology is history and is filled with stories, legends, and epic tales of heroism and villainy. Names from mythology should suit your dwarf very well.

Why We Use The Dwarven Names?

Many readers of this page have been wondering why we use dwarven names, and why they are so different from human names. The main reason is that they are a fantasy race, and so need to reflect the fantasy world they inhabit. It also adds a lot of flavor to the game, and since dwarven names have such unique meanings, it goes well with the other content on this website such as clan histories and history.
A dwarf was created by a humanoid being known as the Creator, who used four basic elements to create his work. These elements were earth, fire, water, and air. Through these four simple elements, dwarves were made. Dwarven ancestors were given certain special abilities by the Creator such as the ability for hardening the skin and stone-like qualities to their body structure.

Conclusion:-

These dwarf names are so creative and unique, and I think they are worth all the effort you put into coming up with them. Dwarves have a different culture, with an interesting race. Naming your character is one of the most important things to do on this website, and these names should give you inspiration if you haven’t thought of a name yet.
